Cees Groenewoud Kramer
1918-2000
Groenewoud Kramer became famous for painting the landscape of the Schermerpolder, North Holland. Family and everyday life inspired him to create approximately 300 works. His unique paint treatment and refined color harmonies made him a true “color poet”.
He was the son of a wealthy cattle farmer, but he eventually chose the trade school. What he learned and saw there in drawing and painting techniques would later form the basis of his special way of working, which is unique in the world of visual arts. Cees never painted abstractly, but chose his own path as a professional artist. It is mainly the recognizability in the representation that makes his work popular with private collectors.
