Above the Valley


Painted in 1991, Above the Valley shows Herman Berserik’s ability to move effortlessly between his well-known figurative scenes and more contemplative landscapes.

In this landscape, Berserik focuses on atmosphere and balance, using colour and form to create a calm, reflective scene.

As a long-standing figure within the Hague art scene and the New Hague School, Berserik developed a style that remained recognisable yet varied throughout his career.
