Ferry Slebe's paintings are usually colourful and cheerful, often also surrealistic. Nudes were a favourite subject of Slebe, but harlequins, street scenes and still lifes were also popular subjects of his.

Ferry Slebe's work is in the Hague Gemeentemuseum, the National Collection and private collections. Listed in the Jacobs and the Scheen.

Lambertus Zijl - Pontianus van Spoleto Saint Pontianus of Spoleto (after a model by Jan Nude, 1450-51), ca. 1930.

Probably due to the exceedingly brittle nature of the unfired clay he used, this is one of only a handful of Lambertus Zijl’s models to have survived. With his subdued, abstracted shapes Zijl was a key proponent of the new Netherlandish modernist movement at the turn of the twentieth century. The present statuette offers a rare glimpse of Zijl’s hands at work, quickly and effectively reducing the monumentality of one of the most famous medieval works of art from Utrecht Cathedral, the stone statue of Saint Pontianus of Spoleto now in the Centraal Museum in the same city, to the play of lines and plains so recognisably part of the School of Amsterdam.
