Frans Kokshoorn
Voorburg 1947 – Delft 2021.
Frans Kokshoorn was a productive sculptor. Many of his works can be found in public spaces in The Hague and Voorburg. But also far beyond. His sculptures are recognizable and yet not realistic, and almost always with a touch of humor.
Kokshoorn grew up in Voorburg and initially studied architecture. From 1969 to 1971 he attended the Vrije Academie Werkplaats voor Beeldende Kunsten and from 1971 to 1976 he studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts, both in The Hague. From 1977 he was established in Voorburg as a freelance artist. He was a member of the artists' group "Groep Delta".
Kokshoorn, who lived and worked in Voorburg, received the triennial Aart van den IJssel art prize from the Municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg in 2004. His work is abstracted figurative.
