Theo van der Nahmer

Theo van der Nahmer is a well-known sculptor and draftsman from The Hague. He was born in Stratum (Eindhoven). He first studied Architecture at the Royal School for Useful and Visual Arts in 's-Hertogenbosch from 1933 to 1938, after which he continued his education as a sculptor at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague until 1940 on the advice of one of his teachers.

Theo van der Nahmer was a member of Pulchri Studio and co-founder of the artist groups Verve and Fugare. He is considered one of the artists of the New Hague School.
In addition to his sculptures, he makes paintings, pastels, drawings, ceramics and portraits, but he is best known for his sculptures, drawings and pastels.

A well-known student of Theo was Queen Beatrix, whom he was allowed to teach for a number of years.

Many of Nahmer's sculptures are spread throughout The Hague.

For example, Eline Vere is on the Groot Hertoginnelaan, De Flaneur on the Lange Voorhout, or for example the beautiful statue of Skaters on the Brink.

But also in Dordrecht, Groningen, Oss, Staphorst (Staphorster woman), Wassenaar, Antwerp, Paris City Hall, The Hague Municipal Museum, Arnhem Municipal Museum, Schiedam Municipal Museum and in the National Collection.
