About the artist - Rik van Iersel

Rik van Iersel, born in Maastricht in 1961, showed a passion for painting and drawing at an early age. Van Iersel considers his life and his art to be one. No academy has influenced him and perhaps that is one of the reasons why his work looks so spontaneous and honest. Colours are applied directly to the canvas in all their rawness. Wild, mobile and dripping with paint, his painted figures and heads emerge, sometimes combined with text or loose letters. His authenticity connects him to many other European artists.

Over the years, Van Iersel's art found its way to galleries in Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, New York and San Francisco. His style has constantly evolved, but his curiosity for materials, media and life itself remains a common thread in his work.
Known for his fast and spontaneous approach, he can be categorized as a traditional painter, often inspired by timeless themes that have existed for centuries.

Currently, there are no available artworks by Rik van Iersel in our collection.
