About this painting

A still life by the Dutch painter Harm Kamerlingh Onnes. Hyacinths from 1963 shows an arrangement of hyacinth flowers, painted with Kamerlingh Onnes' characteristic sense of colour and light. The painting is framed and in good condition.

About Harm Kamerlingh Onnes

Harm Kamerlingh Onnes (1893–1985) was a versatile artist who made drawings, watercolours, gouaches, oil paintings and ceramics. He is best known for small paintings and drawings of everyday life, almost always with humour. From 1925 onwards everyday reality was his subject and his work remained mainly figurative; a visit to Mondriaan's studio helped him realise that abstract art was not for him.
