About this artwork
This painting by Jan van Heel depicts a stylized mannequin form with a necklace. The figure appears as both a body and an object. On the left is an oval shape containing a heart and ornate symbols, and at the bottom, a second, smaller heart is visible. Van Heel uses warm, earthy colors and a layered paint texture, giving the work a calm and somewhat melancholic character.
